My Micro Cabin Plan
I wanted my OWN place to live. Somewhere I could afford the taxes. I set out to see if I could make my dream come true.
With out credit, I purchased 3 small adjoining city lots in a small mountain community. I was able to make the small $150 dn payment, and it is mine to use and improve during the 30 month contract. Price $2795.00 payable @ $110 a month for 30 months including interest.
I have also purchased a 10' x 20' prefab camping cabin shell, on a rent to own program. I managed to buy the display model for $4500.00 CASH price, plus $300 for delivery and set up. The monthly payment is $167.00 a month for 48 months.
Total for land and mico home shell is $7595.00 plus interest. ($12,000.00 with interest) Not bad for a person TOTALLY UN-ABLE to get a conventional loan to buy a used car....
Composting toilets, and other interesting details..
Fine, so now I have the shell of a micro home and land... Where is the bathrom? That from my own experience, will be the first question asked, in this type endevore. Yes, there will be permits for septic to deal with, and those expences are REAL, and real expensive. My immediate plan is a chem-toilet, and then upgrading to a marine style compost toilet for permenate use. Septic will be installed for grey water system only. This is not my first rodeo into off the grid, I have been here before, and know the process.
I have also Bartered a Onan 4500 watt/ 35 amp RV genset with less than 300 original hours on it! I have a 40 watt solar panel set -up / lights and distribution panel, that I purchased, still in the original box.
Until a well is done, I will pack water in 6 gallon jugs, as I have done MANY times before. I will be using an indoor propane heater and oven from the same wrecked RV that I recovered with the genset, (they were both free in the deal!)
